It's the same story outside Charing Cross police station. Security is tight at St Pancras Eurostar terminal, but heavily armed police officers walk on by without a glance. It's hard to detect in normal light – and no one did. They can be switched on with a subtle tap of the finger or the simple voice command: 'Hey Facebook, take a video.' The only clue to what's really going on is a pinprick of light – just a touch bigger than a poppy seed – at the side of the specs when recording is under way. Sold as Ray-Ban Stories, the glasses are available on the internet for £379. Then I pop into Boots and wander the aisles of the pharmacy, filming as shoppers around me pick out their cold and flu medication and browse the shelves.

** Star Trek does have 30 minutes of footage in IMAX format. They enable me to snap and film at will as I move about the London streets and upload images to my phoneĬhanging rooms are a matter of growing controversy thanks to the transgender debate, but I'm free to walk right in wearing what amounts to a video camera on my face. Hope this helps somewhat and sorry for not answering your actual question. I find the normal method of 3d glasses over spectacles is quite bearable if not ideal so it may be best to suck it up.

I have a 3D monitor which came with clip-ons and regular 3d glasses, and I have to say the clip-ons are very clumsy and are not simply do not work as they very uncomfortable. This is why I asked if you've ever tried clip-ons. regular 3d glasses on top of your spectacles. Second point - If you must watch at a 3D IMAX showing, ask yourself how comfortable clip-ons are vs. Therefore ask yourself what the real advantages and disadvantages are between watching it in 3D IMAX and a regular cinema. What manner of clip-ons have you tried before in your life? I ask because I wear spectacles and also dislike 3d films.įirst point - Stak Trek is not shot in 3D or IMAX**. Tl dr need IMAX 3D clip on glasses, can't find a pair because the product descriptions seem to be contradictory. My one priority is to be able to watch Star Trek, 9 days from now, without straining my eyes for the whole movie. For everything that isn't Star Trek I just wait for the Blu-ray and watch it at home.

If someone recommends glasses that will only ever work for this movie in this theater on this date, I don't care, I'll buy them.

If it matters, this is the exact theater I'm seeing Star Trek in. Is it really this hard to find a pair of IMAX 3D clip on glasses? What am I missing here?

The theater I'm seeing the movie at says it's an "IMAX RealD 3D" theater but many of the glasses I'm finding explicitly say that RealD is compatible but IMAX is not. But when I search Amazon for IMAX 3D clip-on glasses, most of the results are coming up for IMAX because the description explicitly states that they do not work with IMAX 3D, only RealD and Disney 3D. I've scoured the internet but I've struggled to find a pair that meets any two of these conditions, much less all three. But I think that's just too specific: I want 2D glasses, as clipons, for IMAX. If I could find 2D IMAX clipons, that would be a winner. They give me a headache and they irritate my temples because I have to wear my normal glasses underneath them.īut as Star Trek is my favorite entertainment franchise of all time I want to be as prepared as I can be for the IMAX 3D premier of Star Trek Into Darkness next week. Let me just start by saying that I absolutely loathe 3D movies.
